The Newscaster
The Newscaster
One skill that seems unarguably beautiful among some, if not most, of the Northerners who sell fruits is the impeccable presentation of their products.
From slices of coconuts to watermelons, carrots, tomatoes, cucumbers, and other veggies and fruits, it’s nothing short of intentionality.
The structure. The arrangement. The placement on their trays, baskets, tables, or barrows.
It is simply top-notch.
OAPs (On-Air Personalities) are expected to present with a high level of professionalism, confidence, clarity, and intentionality.
What they say matters, but so does how they say it and how they present themselves while saying it.
Growing up, I was told, “90 percent of the people you meet do not have any idea who or what you are, so always dress in a way that reflects it.”
In simple terms: Dress the way you want to be addressed. And there is something so profound about that statement.
And back to the newscasters. Every newscast carries something slightly or completely new.
Something different from what was reported the previous day.
After all, the news is about what is new.
And I ask myself, and perhaps you... What is new about you? What has changed? What are you getting ready for?
Or perhaps, better put:
How are you preparing yourself for what you have been praying for? What if they come sooner than you expected? Will you be ready to step into them?
Because regardless of how a newscaster feels, when it is time to go on air, they must look the part and speak the part too.
The fruit sellers remind us that we don't need to break the bank to be well presented.
We simply need to be intentional with what we have.
So today, we ask: What are you getting ready to step into? How prepared are you? And are you getting dressed for it...
